PRESS RELEASE 6.27.2024
SAFETY MEASURES DURING FLOOD CLEANUP
Tetanus is a concern during flood aftermath. Here’s what you need to know:
Tetanus is a serious infection caused by a dangerous bacteria found in the environment. It can be deadly for 1 in 10 patients.
It can get into someone’s body through broken skin — usually through injuries, even tiny cuts, and scrapes.
Tetanus vaccine is recommended for people of all ages. After a series of tetanus shots during childhood and adolescence, adults need a booster every 10 years. A person with a puncture or deep wound should get a tetanus booster if it has been 5 or more years since their last tetanus vaccination.
Make sure your tetanus shot is up to date!
Tetanus vaccinations are available at all 3 of our clinic locations.
