Dr. Nystrom practiced in Sioux Center for 26 years and started practicing in Hawarden in 2007. He also served as President of the Sioux County Medical Society and as Medical Director of the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad.
In 2007 Dr. Nystrom was awarded the Family Physician of the Year and in 2017 was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. These awards recognize him for his hard work, quality of care, and the compassion for his patients. Dr. Nystrom is known for his contributions locally. He serves as the Medical Director for Hawarden Regional Healthcare. Dr. Nystrom is also the Medical Director for the Hawarden and Ireton ambulance services.
Dr. Nystrom is an Adjunct Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa and Bethal University. He enjoys teaching medical and mid-level students.
Dr. Nystrom and Lynette are proud parents of four sons: Tomas, David, Steven, and Mark.
