Meet David Chua
Dr. David Chua, MD, Internal Medicine joined the Hawarden Clinic in December 2021. His decision to join the practice was made with a purpose to plant roots close to home, make an impact in a small community, and prioritize more family time.
Prior to coming to Hawarden Regional Healthcare Dr. Chua spent most of his career as a physician for a private group in Sioux City, IA and as a hospitalist at Mercy Medical in Sioux City, IA. Dr. Chua completed medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines, followed by Internal Medical Residency at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. Dr. Chua is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
While in medical school Dr. Chua participated in medical missions in the Philippines to help the more rural and underprivileged communities. His passion for adult medicine in a rural area grew from there. Dr. Chua specializes in internal medicine. Internal medicine is a concentrated practice on adults ages 18+ through the use of scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to diagnosis, treat, and care across the spectrum from common to complex illness. Internal medicine doctors, such as, Dr. Chua are especially well trained in the diagnosis of puzzling medical problems, in the ongoing care of chronic illnesses, and in caring for patients with more than one disease.
Dr. Chua and his wife, Jennifer, have called Sioux Center home since 2015. They have two young children, Aiden and Juliette. Jennifer is part of 3-generation-old, family-run business, Formosa Foods, in Hull, IA.
Dr. Chua enjoys traveling, being outdoors, movies, eating, trying new foods, and spending time with his family.
