Occupational therapy is the profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Our Occupational Therapists  enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.

Driving Rehabilitation Services:

Includes a two-step process for evaluation including (step 1) clinical testing such as checking vision, thinking, sensation, strength, coordination, and any skills needed for safe driving, followed by (step 2) Behind the Wheel evaluation, in which the patient will drive with the therapist in order to evaluate fitness to drive. Outcomes will be determined and discussed, which may include return to full or restricted driving, further training or introduction to adaptive driving equipment, or driving cessation.

If you or a loved one are noticing any of these changes or characteristics, a driving evaluation may be beneficial: slower reaction time, slower attention span, lagging reflexes, stiff joints or weak muscles, poor or changing vision, hearing problems, reduced memory or forgetfulness, physical impairments, increased accidents or near misses, recent medical events, frequent falls.

Adaptive Equipment:

Our driving rehab specialist is skilled at identifying and training drivers in the use of adaptive equipment for driving including hand controls, left foot accelerator and steering devices. Adaptive equipment training involves the comprehensive driving evaluation, individualized training, equipment prescription, and fitting to ensure equipment works in your personal vehicle.

Referrals and Scheduling:

To participate, you will need a valid driver's license and an order from your doctor. If you do not have a valid license or have questions, give us a call for assistance.
